Living By Faith
The Affirmative Aging Ministry was formed by the Reverend Miriam Dean Pratt in 1986 to serve both the older members of the church and others within the Miami community.
The group is mainly open to anyone who is 55 or older, but we accept younger members, who enjoy the fun and wisdom of the elderly. Although based at the Church of The Ascension this Ministry is truly non-denominational having members from other branches of the Christian faith. We meet on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon, for education, inspiration, fun fellowship, and, of course, lunch.
The mission of the Affirmative Aging Ministry is to value the great experiences of the older, and develop programs that contribute to their spiritual, mental, physical, emotional, and social well-being.
The objective of the Affirmative Aging Ministry is to see the senior adult ministry become a vital and contributing part of the overall growth and ministry of The Church of The Ascension.
We aim to enhance the whole person with a variety of activities including, fellowship, worship, health and financial counseling, group tours and travel, among others.
